The coronavirus has gripped the world for quite some time. Naturally, this causes a lot of concerned parents who fear their children might contract it.

From most sources, it has been evident that children have a much lower risk of contracting COVID-19. Several studies have also confirmed this. Of course, this does not mean that children are completely immune to the disease.

Far from it, really. Concerned parents continue to advocate for everyone to follow the necessary precautions. One particular family went as far as to send a warning to the world out of concern for their son.

LUKE UPDATE:
Thank you all so much for your love, wishes, and prayers. Your kindness is truly appreciated! Luke still has a fever but feels very weak due to constant Tylenol and Motrin…

Luke Schreiber is a 1-year-old boy living in Farmington, USA. The little boy was recently diagnosed with coronavirus. His symptoms first appeared on March 31.

His mother, Amanda Schreiber, told Detroit News: “It looked like he was going to pass out. I was singing in the car and being goofy, but he wasn’t responding. It was one of the scariest moments of my life.”

Due to mandatory quarantine, parents Amanda and Ryan constantly measured their son’s temperature. That particular afternoon, Luke and his 4-month-old brother Alistair developed a high fever.

“Luke woke up crying, something he normally never does. His fever was higher than 40 degrees, a bit higher than Alistair,” Amanda revealed.

“I thought ‘oh no,’ but we didn’t panic. We picked him up, gave him a dose of Motrin, and the fever started to drop, so we hoped we didn’t have to worry.”

Unfortunately, Luke’s condition didn’t improve. His mother and father checked his temperature again later and found it had risen to 41 degrees.

“I’m telling you, we’ve measured his temperature 10 times with different thermometers, and we’re also checking our own temperature.”

The parents put Luke in a bath to lower his body temperature, but he continued to shiver and tremble.

“Luke started screaming because he was cold. We were really scared because it all happened so quickly,” Ryan said. “In that quick moment of panic, you know you have to take immediate action.”

In a rush, Luke was taken to the hospital, where he tested positive for COVID-19.

“Six hours after we left the hospital, his fever was still 41 degrees. He spent the night there. It took a full 12 hours for them to bring back the results and confirm that he had tested positive for COVID-19,” Amanda told Detroit News.

“Doctors told us that there was a high chance he would suffer brain damage,” Ryan said. “Many have lost loved ones, so as long as Luke remains healthy, we are grateful.”

Two weeks later, little Luke was still in the hospital. He still has a 41-degree fever, Michigan Live reports.

“The persistent fever is just terrible. It’s unbelievable,” Amanda said.

“It goes away and comes back. We’re still waiting for a day when he doesn’t have a fever. He gets tired quickly and needs more sleep.”

“It’s important to remain vigilant,” Ryan said. “We thought we were doing everything to prevent it. We cleaned all surfaces in the house, washed our hands, left the mail and packages in the garage, and Luke still got sick.”

It’s crucial that we continue to follow regulations and listen to experts during this crisis.

I’m relieved that Luke’s condition has improved, but the severity of his illness is a real shock.
