From Bites to Blight: When a Vet Uncovers a Disturbing Truth

There are individuals in society who should never be near animals.

One spring day, Hayden Howard made a troubling discovery about her dog.

Her Mastiff, Jackson, had been outside playing when she noticed what looked like insect bites on him.

However, upon closer inspection, she uncovered a horrifying truth.

Jackson had been shot with pellets all over his body.

“I was completely in shock, I didn’t know what to think,” Hayden recounted to WXIN. Upon examination by a vet, it was discovered that Jackson had numerous small pellets embedded in him from an airgun.

“There was even one under his eyelid, one in his ear, in his knee, they were all over,” Hayden described.

The vet had to shave almost all of Jackson’s skin to extract the plastic pellets. Out of the 27 pellets found, 20 had to be left in place.

Additionally, the vet identified at least 20 other pellet holes in Jackson’s body.

He had endured over 70 pellet shots.

Hayden expressed her disbelief, saying, “I can’t understand how someone could harm a dog in this way, especially a dog that has never harmed anyone.”

It was suspected that the shots came from a neighboring field, prompting a police investigation.

Soon enough, bullets and a gun were discovered in the neighbor’s residence. This neighbor had a prior history of drug-related convictions.

Hayden voiced her hope for a severe punishment for the perpetrator, emphasizing the need for accountability. She also advocated for a lifelong ban on owning animals if the individual were to be released in the future.
