Obesity is a significant issue in our society, affecting both humans and animals. Being overweight can lead to various health problems and requires individual effort to address.
Animals, like humans, can also suffer from obesity. Kai, a Golden Retriever, became obese due to neglect from his owner.
Kai’s weight gain resulted in mobility issues, prompting the owner to consider euthanasia.
Dog to be euthanized due to obesity
Upon discovering Kai was 45 kilograms overweight for a Golden Retriever, the owner consulted a veterinarian.
Instead of euthanizing Kai, the compassionate vet found a caring woman willing to help the dog.
Owner Pam shared, “Our vet recommended a weight-loss diet, and Kai successfully shed 34 kilograms. He now weighs around 30 kilograms, maintaining his weight with a diet of fruits and vegetables. Kai underwent hydrotherapy and daily walks to improve his fitness. He enjoys activities like playing with a ball and swimming, which helps relieve pressure on his joints and keeps him cool.”
