From Dumped to Loved: The Inspiring Rescue of a Disabled Dog

All dogs, including those with disabilities, deserve love and care. Unfortunately, some owners abandon their dogs when they face challenges like disability, treating them as if they were disposable.

Such was the fate of the dog in this heartwarming story. Despite being given up by his owner, this was not the end of the road for him, as rescuers stepped in to change his life for the better.

The organization Animal Aid Unlimited India rescued Pumba, a dog abandoned because he could no longer walk, most likely due to prolonged neglect.

“He could not walk anymore because he was not allowed to move by his owner,” reports the organization. “He had no muscles left.”

The rescuer, undeterred, believed in Pumba’s potential and was dedicated to helping him regain his mobility.

They initiated a rigorous therapy routine, including hydrotherapy, where the dog learned to use his legs again in a water bath with assistance.

“We don’t know what he enjoyed more, the water or the attention,” expressed the rescuer.

With time and the dedication of therapists, Pumba showed remarkable progress.

After six weeks, he was able to stand and walk on his own, a significant achievement!

Now that Pumba had regained his mobility, it was time for him to experience the joy of playing with other dogs, something he had missed out on before.

Pumba is now seeking a permanent home in India where he can continue his rehabilitation with a loving family who will provide the care and exercise he needs.

“He is one of the most lovable creatures we know,” Animal Aid Unlimited commented. “He is available for adoption to a family committed to not chaining him. This sweet boy requires at least 2 hours of daily exercise and interaction with other dogs and people.”

“Wherever you are, consider adopting a dog!”

We celebrate Pumba’s incredible journey of rehabilitation! Kudos to the dedicated rescuers for giving him a new lease on life!
