Life is not easy for animals in need. Especially for animals living in shelters.
Such animals are truly dependent on helping people. Individuals who will provide them with the extra love and care they deserve.
Take this cat for example. He was up for adoption after losing not only his owner but also his sight. Nonetheless, this brave cat never gave up. Now he has a new owner who loves him just the way he is.
His name is Jonathan. The cat is 9 years old and orange. He ended up in a shelter in Boston when his owner passed away.
There, they found that the cat was suffering from a serious and very uncomfortable condition. Jonathan had entropion, causing his eyelashes to grow into his eyes, irritating them every time he blinked. This was reported by Today.

“Every time I tried to touch his head, he would get nervous and growl,” said Mike DeFina, the spokesperson for the non-profit organization. “He was in a lot of pain.”
Unfortunately, the only option to change his condition was to remove Jonathan’s eyes.
Although the cat is now completely blind, he no longer lives in pain and discomfort. Especially his playful personality is beginning to shine again.
“He was already a friendly cat, but since the surgery, he no longer growls and is more tolerant towards other animals and staff,” DeFina said.
“He loves to be petted on his cheeks and enjoys nudging with his head. He is certainly much more comfortable than before and a much happier cat.”

Aside from his eye problems, Jonathan doesn’t have any other health issues and could live a long and healthy life, just like any other cat.
But it will take some time for Jonathan to adjust to his blindness, and the fact that he is a disabled cat also poses a challenge in finding an adopter.
“Once he realizes where he is, where his food is, where the couch is, then he will be a very happy cat. Cats are such tough animals. They are amazing,” he said. “Not being able to see will not stop him from anything. He has a beautiful, long, and healthy life ahead of him.”
Although the odds were not in his favor, a miracle happened. A day after the shelter shared Jonathan’s story on social media, they already announced good news: Jonathan was adopted!
We are so happy that Jonathan was adopted! We know that this lovely cat will quickly adapt to his new surroundings, and he will have someone to love him for the rest of his life.
