Patricia Kopta, known as ‘The Mus’, worked as a street preacher in Ross Township, north of Pittsburgh (USA). In 1992, her husband reported her missing after he couldn’t find his wife anywhere.
There had been no news about her until now. The Ross Township police announced that the case had officially been solved and that Kopta had been located in Puerto Rico.

The Ross Township police were contacted by an Interpol agent and a social worker who believed they had located Kopta, who was currently residing in a care home in Puerto Rico.
It was revealed that she had been in need of care since June 1999. The police reported that the woman had been reluctant to give details about her personal life before arriving in Puerto Rico. She only disclosed that she had arrived in Puerto Rico on a cruise ship from Europe. Other details about herself were kept rather vague.
It wasn’t until more recently as she got older that she became more open about her past and revealed details about her life, allowing officials to track down her family in the US.
Officers in Pennsylvania were able to locate Kopta’s sister and cousin who had provided DNA samples to be tested alongside hers to confirm that it was indeed Kopta who had been found.
Both Kopta’s husband and sister were present at a press conference. Her sister Gloria Smith said: “We are very grateful that Patty is alive and well,” adding: “She is being taken good care of. We really thought she was dead all those years. It was a huge shock to know that she is still alive, I hope I can go there to see her.”
Patricia Kopta was legally declared dead years ago.
