From Shaggy to Stylish: Hond’s Incredible Transformation After 6 Years in a Shed!

My heart always breaks when I hear about pets being abused or neglected. Animals are so vulnerable and they need our help, so I keep my eyes open and do what I can to help.

Some stories have a happy ending. And there is nothing sweeter than a dog or cat finally getting the life they deserve.

Like the dog Lazarus. This Pyrenean Mountain Dog was neglected and had to sleep in a dirty barn for six years.

One day, a kind-hearted woman heard about him and decided to take action.

When she first saw Lazarus, he was in bad condition. His fur had never been clipped or cared for. But underneath all that fur was a beautiful little dog.

Dog groomer Candice Skelton rescued Lazarus from significant neglect. The dog’s original owners were terminally ill and could not take care of him. He stayed in a barn covered in poop for six years.

The first thing Candice wanted to do was shave Lazarus’ dirty coat.

That proved easier said than done. His hair was matted and very dirty. Plus, there was a lot of it.

It took six helpers and Candice herself to shave Lazarus. And when they were done, he had lost 16 kilos of hair. That’s a lot of hair for a dog of any size!

For the first time in years, Lazarus could be himself again – a sweet, beautiful little dog.

Before being shaved, Lazarus could hardly walk. Now he can not only walk, but also run!

The next challenge was getting Lazarus used to human contact. It was new to him, but there’s nothing he can’t learn.

Big Fluffy Dog Rescue offered to find a new home for Lazarus. He went to a foster family where he slowly but surely learned what a dog’s life should look like.

Hopefully, Lazarus will find a new home soon, where he will be showered with love and warmth. It’s the least Lazarus deserves.

What a beautiful little dog Lazarus is, I wish him all the best and hope he finds a truly loving home!
