The couple Beth and Michael Clark are known for their compassionate acts towards animals. They donate blankets to shelters in winter to offer comfort and warmth to dogs in need.
During a visit to the Anne Arundel County Animal Control in December 2015 to donate blankets and supplies, they unexpectedly ended up adopting a 17-year-old dog named Rocky.
Seeing the sadness in Rocky’s eyes, Beth and Michael felt an instant connection and decided to bring him home. Beth expressed, “I saw this gray, skinny dog and I said to my husband, โWeโre bringing him home.โ I wasnโt going to let that old dog die in a cage.”

Rocky quickly became an integral part of their family. Beth shared with Today how he enjoyed dancing with them and being close, although old age made it challenging for him to climb stairs or go for walks. Her husband would carry Rocky up the stairs so he could sleep beside them, and they would all bask in the sun together.
Special families who open their hearts to senior dogs
According to Robin Catlett, an administrator at Anne Arundel County Animal Control, more families are embracing the idea of adopting senior dogs like Rocky.
Robin mentioned, โIt takes a special family to open their heart and home to an animal that they may only have for a short time in their lives. We do our best to make the animals as comfortable as possible in our care, but we know that this can never replace a forever home.โ

As Beth’s pregnancy advanced, Rocky showed incredible gentleness towards her, providing immense support during this special time.
Rocky’s health began to deteriorate
To announce their pregnancy, Beth and Michael included Rocky in a heartwarming photo with a sign indicating that a new family member was on the way.
Unfortunately, Rocky’s health took a turn for the worse when Beth was 7 months pregnant, leading to concerns about a possible tumor.

Upon bringing their newborn daughter home, Rocky showed his gentle nature by approaching the baby. Eventually, his health deteriorated further, prompting the couple to make the difficult decision to let him go.
Beth shared, โI called a vet, and that night he peacefully passed away with his family by his side. We loved him more than words can describe, and we still find it very difficult to adjust to the fact that he’s no longer with us.โ
The Clarks believe that Rocky stayed strong to meet his little human sister before his passing.

Beth and Michael, your dedication to Rocky’s well-being and happiness is truly admirable. Thank you for giving him a loving home in his final years.
