In 2006, two very special girls, Isabelle and Abby, were born conjoined from their chest to their stomachs. They underwent a groundbreaking separation surgery at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota after much deliberation.
The operation, which lasted 12 hours and involved 17 surgeons, was successful. Their recovery was quick, and they were able to go home in just two weeks.
The doctors called it a miracle.
Now, 12 years later, Abby and Isabelle, who have no memory of being joined, lead individual lives while cherishing their bond as twins. They appeared on TV after a decade, sharing their experiences of growing up in North Dakota.
Ten years post-surgery, the twins are thriving, excelling in school, and embracing their individuality.
