It always saddens me to hear about sick animals or people mistreating their pets. Unfortunately, Fawna’s story is one of neglect, where this poor dog was treated in a very cruel manner.
The owner callously abandoned Fawna in the trash before moving in with their boyfriend as reported by WTAE.
Thankfully, things took a positive turn for the dog, but the woman faced the consequences of her actions.
Dogs have no say in choosing their owners, and sadly, there are many pets with irresponsible caregivers. Fawna’s ordeal is a glaring example of this.
Dog dumped in trash
Fawna resided with a woman in Pennsylvania, USA, who had no intention of keeping the dog, opting instead to discard her in the trash and move in with her boyfriend.
Luckily, Fawna was discovered by Nathan Binnie, a garbage collector, after spending three days in the container, according to WTAE.
Nathan was shocked by the sight of the malnourished dog and provided her with food before taking her to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County for proper care.
Woman received punishment
Subsequently, it was revealed that Fawna had a microchip, aiding the police in identifying the owner.
The woman was apprehended by law enforcement on suspicion of animal abuse, underwent a psychological evaluation, and was fined 527 euros.

Veterinarian Megan Fritz, who attended to Fawna, developed a strong bond with the dog. Through proper nourishment and care, Fawna regained her health and weight.
But the story doesn’t end there. Megan decided to adopt Fawna herself, and now the dog resides with her, content and healthy, as all dogs should be.
Megan even mentioned that Fawna would make an excellent therapy dog.
It’s heartwarming to see Fawna’s positive outcome! No dog should ever endure such suffering. Fortunately, the authorities were able to locate the perpetrator. Let’s hope she’s kept away from pets in the future.
