A reality TV star from Australia gained attention after admitting to having been intimate with over 700 men. She has now acknowledged her ‘sex addiction’.
Reports indicate that Belinda “Love” Rygier, known for her appearance on The Bachelor Australia in 2017, shared that there was a time when she actively sought sex six nights a week.
Despite the potentially startling numbers, the 38-year-old entered a recovery phase upon realizing her addiction.
Hooked on sex
Discussing one’s sexual history openly isn’t common for everyone. Publicly disclosing the number of past partners isn’t typical behavior for most individuals.
For Belinda Rygier, openly discussing her ‘body count’ was a significant step in her journey to combat her addiction. She mentioned having been intimate with possibly 700 men, although the exact count was uncertain.
The former TV personality, now a relationship advisor, shared on the You’re a Grub Mate! radio show in 2022 about her eight-year recovery journey, including a 15-month period of celibacy.
“I only realized I had a problem once I overcame it. The root of the issue lay in my relationships, where I kept attracting unhealthy partners,” she explained.
“After my recovery, I suspected an unresolved trauma from my past contributed to my sex addiction.”
“It governed my life, yet I was able to function. Despite what people may initially think, I have a successful career,” she added.
Belinda, initially known for her appearance on The Bachelor Australia, expressed no shame regarding her notably high number of sexual partners. She shared how she used to actively seek a bed partner up to six times a week.
“Men were adept at saying what I wanted to hear. It was more about feeling beautiful, valued, and loved than just the physical act,” she stated.
Today, Belinda follows a celibate lifestyle. She believes that modern society often uses sex for the wrong reasons.
“We have regressed as a society, misusing sex for instant validation or gratification,” she remarked.
“I do intend to engage in sexual activity again, but only with someone I share a genuine connection with.”
