In June, a string of disappearances caught the attention of visitors, including a flower pot that had been placed at a grave in 1977 by a woman in memory of her late father.

Concerned by the escalating thefts, visitors alerted the authorities to investigate, and fortunately, the presence of surveillance cameras aided in the process.

The footage from the cameras revealed two women in a car stopping at various graves. They callously inspected the memorials left by others before driving off nonchalantly.

This incriminating evidence led to the swift identification and arrest of the culprits by law enforcement.

Adding to the shock for the community was the discovery that one of the involved women held a position in a neighboring town and was familiar to many in New London.
