Heartbreaking: Woman says goodbye to her mother over the phone

Countless families have been forced to say goodbye to their loved ones in recent weeks due to COVID-19 infections.

A heart-wrenching video of a woman bidding farewell to her mother over the phone is now circulating the internet. The woman couldn’t be with her mother due to the virus.

Linda Onorato’s voice broke as she finally had to say goodbye to her 81-year-old mother, Roberta Tately. Her mother was on painkillers and couldn’t respond, and the fact that Linda couldn’t hug her mother or hold her hand during her final hours is simply heartbreaking.

“Mom, I love you very much, okay? You’re the best mom in the world, always the best mom,” Linda told her mother, who passed away hours later from the effects of the terrible virus.

“I knew she could hear me and I didn’t want to say goodbye because I didn’t want to scare her,” she said, according to News 7, Boston.

“She was the best mother I could have asked for, and I miss her. I will miss her very much,” she declared.

With Linda’s permission, daughter Francesca shared the video on the popular app TikTok, and it has since been viewed millions of times.

The 16-year-old from the American state of Massachusetts says she hopes the video will highlight the terrible consequences of the virus to young people, and the importance of social distancing, regardless of your age.

“I want people to know that this is the harsh reality,” Francesca told Insider.

“The statistics you see on TV could be your family members and everyone needs to stay inside if we want this virus to go away quickly.”

“The kindest person I’ve known”

A GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for her grandma’s funeral.

“She was always so kind and positive. The kindest person I’ve known,” she wrote.

It is important to know that the virus has such a devastating effect on families.

To honor Roberta, we must respect social distancing. Only then can we save lives. Please share.
