There are many stories of couples dying within months or days of each other, known as the “broken heart syndrome.”
Similar heartbreaking connections can be seen between people and their pets.
Stuart Hutchison, a young man of 25 from Scotland, lost his battle with cancer at home, surrounded by his family. Astonishingly, just fifteen minutes later, his devoted dog also passed away.
Stuart shared a special bond with his French bulldog, Nero, among his three dogs.
“Nero was always by his side. When they both passed away, Stuart’s wife Danielle was devastated, but she showed remarkable strength,” Stuart’s mother, Fiona Conaghan, recounted.
Diagnosed with a brain tumor at the young age of 18 in 2011, Stuart underwent strenuous treatments over the years.
Unfortunately, in 2018, he received the heartbreaking news that the cancer had spread to his bones despite his prolonged battle involving surgeries and chemotherapy.
Stuart’s aspirations of attending university were altered by his illness, reshaping his entire life.
Throughout his fierce fight, Nero, his loyal companion, never left his side.
“Stuart had three dogs, but his bond with Nero was extraordinary. Nero was always his faithful companion,” Fiona, Stuart’s mother, shared.
In his last days, Stuart Hutchison wanted to be at home, cared for by his mother as his full-time caregiver.
Discovered that dog Nero was sick
“We brought Stuart home four weeks ago as he wished to spend his final moments where he was born. We provided him with care at home,” Fiona mentioned.
On the day Stuart passed, his family noticed Nero was ill and immediately took him to the vet, discovering a spinal injury.
On August 11, 2019, Stuart Hutchison bid farewell to this world, just moments before his beloved 2-year-old dog passed away as well.
