During the hot summer months, it’s crucial to be aware of dogs left in hot cars. Leaving a dog unattended in a car can lead to heatstroke, a common occurrence that poses great risks to dogs.
Fortunately, there are caring individuals who will go to great lengths to rescue these vulnerable animals, just like a group of spectators who came to the aid of a dog left alone in a car during a baseball game.
As reported by the Kansas City Star, Josh Lee and his family attended a Kansas City Royals game at Kauffman Stadium but decided to leave early, during the eighth inning.
Their early departure proved to be fortuitous as they heard a dog’s cries coming from a car parked outside the stadium.

The dog was found trapped in the car without food or water, with only slightly open windows. The temperature was over 32°C (89.6°F) and felt even hotter.
The group acted swiftly to rescue the dog by opening the car window slightly to provide much-needed water and save its life.
Josh shared on Twitter that they worked together to free the dog and provide assistance.
They alerted the police and handed the dog over to the Royals staff. If the owner failed to retrieve the dog, Josh’s brother was willing to take care of the pup.

The timing was crucial as they intervened just in time. “Considering the game ended in the 13th inning and we found the puppy in the 8th…we most likely saved his life,” Josh mentioned to the Kansas City Star.
Incidents like this have occurred before at Kauffman Stadium, raising concerns among staff. “I don’t know why people do it,” said Anthony Mozzicato, director of guest services at the Royals. “It puts us in a really awkward position.”
Thanks to these baseball fans, a crisis was averted, and they truly were the heroes of the game.
Thanks to these quick-thinking spectators who saved this dog’s life! This reminds us to be vigilant for dogs in overheated cars this summer.
