Even with a pet nearby, there should always be an adult present when a child is around. Let’s delve into the story of how the family’s Doberman acted heroically to save a vulnerable one-year-old.
A few years ago, Catherine Svillicic, the mother, gained attention in the news for allowing their Doberman named Khan to be close to their under two-year-old daughter, Charlotte.
It’s essential to note that Khan, the Doberman, was rescued from a neglected home and had a background of living in a hostile environment with abuse and neglect, devoid of love.

Convinced the dog couldn’t do harm
Catherine, an ardent animal lover, believed that Khan was kind and just needed affection, contrary to what many thought about him.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the events that followed would reveal who was right and who was wrong.
One day, while Charlotte, 17 months old, was playing outside on the lawn, Khan, the Doberman, was by her side.
“Like she was a rag doll”
Suddenly, Catherine heard a scream and rushed to check on her daughter, witnessing Khan biting into Charlotte’s diaper and lifting her up.
“Khan displayed aggressiveness and attempted to push Charlotte, but when that failed, he grabbed her by the diaper and threw her over a meter over his shoulder, as if she were a rag doll,” recounted Catherine to the Daily Mail.
Everything happened swiftly, leaving the mother in panic.
The dog saved the child from the snake
It became apparent to Catherine that Khan had saved Charlotte from a venomous snake that was approaching her.
“He tried to get between her and the snake earlier, which led him to toss her aside,” she realized.
Thanks to Khan’s quick actions, Charlotte narrowly avoided a venomous snakebite.
Dog bitten by snake
Khan took the snake’s bite intended for Charlotte. Following the incident, Khan had to undergo immediate veterinary care but thankfully fully recovered.
“By risking his own life, he saved hers,” expressed Catherine.
