We all imagine ourselves being brave in times of need, but it’s impossible to truly know until faced with such a situation.
No one can predict their response until, unfortunately, they are put to the test.
However, Pete Rosengren, a father of three from Batavia, Illinois, proved his heroism last year by giving his life to save two children in a life-threatening situation.
The article continues below the photo.
While on vacation in Florida with his family, Pete, 42, saw two children in distress in the water despite warnings of dangerous conditions with two red flags signaling danger.
Without hesitation, Pete rushed into the water to rescue the struggling children. Although he successfully saved them, Pete tragically lost his own life during the rescue.

In an interview with News at 10, Pete’s best friend, Joe Shaker, shared: “It was children who needed help.
“He went into the water without hesitation and saved these children. Unfortunately, his life was not spared.”
Joe described Pete as a rarity, saying, “Pete was the epitome of a best friend, always prioritizing others over himself.”
Survived by his wife, whom Joe described as his high school sweetheart, Pete also leaves behind his three sons.
“She was the love of his life, and his three boys meant the world to him,” Joe said. “He was also an avid coach and enjoyed spending time on the baseball field with his sons.”
