Incredible Twist: Delivery Man Hears Cries from 94-Year-Old’s Home and Makes Shocking Discovery!
The Heartwarming Story of a Mail Carrier’s Heroic Act:
Josh Hefta is a mail carrier in North Dakota, USA. Since he delivers to the same houses every day, he has a good idea of who is who in his area.
One resident he got along with well was 94-year-old Alice Paschke. For Alice, Josh went the extra mile and usually left the mail by her door so the elderly woman wouldn’t have to walk all the way to the mailbox.
One day, in January of this year, while he was on his usual route, Josh noticed something was off when he arrived at Alice’s.

Every time Josh delivered the mail to Alice, she would open the door for a chat. Since she lived alone, she was always happy when someone stopped by. Sometimes she would offer Josh something to eat or drink. The two developed a bond, you could say.
But recently, it had become increasingly difficult for Alice to move around. At one point, she couldn’t leave the house anymore. That’s when Josh started bringing the mail to her door. What a good man.
On a particular visit in January, Josh knocked on the door as usual. But no one answered. He felt a bit worried since Alice was always home. Where could she be? He kept knocking. And then, he heard a faint voice calling for help.

Josh knew he had to act fast. The door was locked so he kicked it open. When he walked in, he found Alice on the floor. She explained that she had fallen the day before and couldn’t get up. She had been on the floor for 20 hours. She knew her only hope would be if Josh came knocking on the door, as always. So there she lay, waiting for her hero.
¨I said, come in, I need help. (…) He saved my life, and I mean that,¨ she tells WDAZ 8. “For the rest of my life, as long as my memory stays with me, I will remember it.¨

You can definitely say that Josh saved Alice’s life that day. The dedicated mail carrier has received a Postmaster General Award at the post office in Minto – the highest honor a mail carrier can receive.
His name is also added to the Heroes Wall at the Postal Service headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Since then, Alice has moved to a nursing home. She is no longer part of Josh’s route. But they still see each other.
¨I love how now he doesn’t come visit me, but I visit him,¨ she says.
Josh is a true hero and deserves all the recognition. The world needs more people like him!
