When the familiar words ‘Gossip Girl here’ echoed through the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall at the SAG Awards 2025, it signaled a special moment for fans everywhere.
Leighton Meester and Kristen Bell Reunite from Gossip Girl
Host Kristen Bell, known for voicing the iconic Gossip Girl in the teen drama series of the early 2000s, revived her distinctive voice-over style to share some quirky gossip with the SAG audience.
‘Hey everyone, Gossip Girl here,’ she announced. ‘One of my informants, LeMee86, sends me this: “Spotted at Table 8: Jeff Goldblum seems to have a small appetite. And a glimpse behind the scenes reveals his preference for green eggs with ham.”
Kristen Bell, standing alongside her Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester, added, ‘And guess who we have here, the not-so-lonely boy Timothée Chalamet enjoying a hot medium rare steak with pepper sauce, along with a side of…’ She paused, turning to Leighton Meester. ‘Leighton, this isn’t exactly scandalous,’ she joked. ‘It’s all about food.’
In response, Leighton Meester quipped, taking a bite of her sandwich: ‘Sorry, I’m just really hungry.’ ‘Even the popes at the Conclave were better at gossiping than us,’ Kristen Bell remarked. ‘I think we need to hand over the reins.’
‘Agreed,’ Leighton replied.
Amidst laughter, Kristen Bell then introduced the cast of Conclave. While the intrigue of Conclave rivals that of a Gossip Girl episode (or quite frankly, several episodes), how many award ceremonies must we endure before a Gossip Girl reunion special?
With Leighton Meester set to appear in the upcoming season of the Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This – starring her husband, Adam Brody – fans can only hope that a reunion is on the horizon.
