The Academy announced last week that the trio would deliver a ‘show-stopping celebration of cinema‘ instead of performing their latest track together, sparking anticipation among their fans.

Surprising the audience, the trio, not part of this year’s nominated films nor the composers for them, seized the opportunity left by the absence of nominee performances for Best Original Song tonight. As Variety reported, Original Song contenders were showcased in videos highlighting the songwriting process.

Additionally, performances by Best Supporting Actress nominee, Ariana Grande, and Best Actress nominee, Cynthia Erivo, graced the stage. The Los Angeles Master Chorale paid tribute to L.A. in a special presentation.

‘Born Again’

Born Again, released on February 7th, is a track from Lisa’s latest album, Alter Ego, launched last Friday. The K-pop sensation shared insights with American ELLE about crafting the album independently under Lloud Co., her management company, after a hiatus since her previous solo project, Lalisa.

‘I learned that I must voice my true preferences this time,’ she reflected. ‘It’s crucial to be definitive about what I like and dislike, rather than being indecisive.’

Upcoming this year, Lisa will reunite with Blackpink for a global tour in July, marking a highly anticipated comeback for the group after individual projects. From topping the charts to commanding the Oscar stage, the members – Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé – have had a remarkable journey.
