Lisa Marie Presley Opens Up About Heartbreak and Loss of Son: A Candid Conversation

Reflecting on the heartbreak and loss of her son Benjamin Keough, Lisa Marie Presley opens up about the immense grief she has been grappling with for almost two years.

She recently shared on Instagram, “Navigating through this horrific grief that has completely consumed my heart and soul, has taken me over completely.”

Aside from discussing her grief, Presley also mentioned the upcoming film Elvis in her emotional message.

Benjamin, who was the grandson of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, tragically passed away in July 2020 at the age of 27, with the cause confirmed as suicide.

Following Benjamin’s death, Presley was shattered.

According to her representative speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, “She is devastated, inconsolable and beyond devastated, but she is trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her eldest daughter, Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”

Since then, Presley has kept a low profile regarding Benjamin’s passing and its impact on her and her other children.

Just before what would have been Benjamin’s 28th birthday in October 2020, Presley honored her son with a photo and a heartfelt caption.

She expressed, “My beautiful beautiful angel, I adored the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in heaven,” stating, “My heart and soul went with you.

“The pain is suffocating and bottomless every moment of the day without you.”

Now, nearly two years since Benjamin’s passing, Presley has once again shared her feelings. This time, she also gave her thoughts on Baz Luhrmann’s film, Elvis.

‘Absolutely spectacular’

Having watched the film, set to premiere on June 24, twice, Presley described it as “nothing short of spectacular.”

She commended Austin Butler for his portrayal of her father in the movie, stating that it was accurate and respectful, deserving of an Oscar.

Even though she enjoyed the film, Presley mentioned that one of the most touching moments occurred after the screening.

She shared, “What also moved me to tears was seeing Riley, Harper and also Finley, all 3 visibly overwhelmed and so proud of their grandfather and his legacy, in a way I have never experienced before.”

“It breaks my heart that my son is not here to see it. He would have loved it too,” she added.
