The touching tale of a lonely, ailing dog wandering into veterinarian Dayse Ferreira’s clinic in Brazil quickly made headlines in local media.
Dayse shared, “When he entered, he pointed at his injured paw as if asking for help. We were all taken aback by how he knew where to come for assistance,” in an interview with the animal website The Dodo.
Security cameras fortuitously recorded the heartwarming incident. The footage captures the dog standing at the entrance, appearing hesitant before bravely entering the clinic. Another dog with its owner is seen in the waiting room.
The injured dog cautiously makes his way along the wall, glancing at the staff, wagging his tail, and then sitting down. He extends his injured paw, prompting Dayse to approach him for a thorough examination, which revealed urgent needs.
Recognizing Signs of Distress
Upon examination, Dayse noticed the dog’s paw wasn’t the only issue; he was infested with lice and fleas and required immediate attention. Additionally, a treatable tumor was identified. Thanks to the compassionate team at the clinic, help was provided.
News of the dog’s plight spread on social media, leading to numerous offers to adopt him.
