Moo-cle Birth: Cow Gives Birth to Quadruplets – Happens Once in 700,000 Births

Chuck and Deb Beldo witnessed something extraordinary on their Minnesota farm.

During the birth of one of their cows, instead of the expected 1 or 2 calves, an exceptional event unfolded – she gave birth to 4 calves, a rare occurrence happening only once in 700,000 births.

The Beldo family, who have owned the farm since 1882, knows firsthand the challenges of farming.

Upon noticing the pregnancy of one of their cows, the couple eagerly anticipated welcoming a new calf to their farm.

Anticipating Twins

Jamie, their daughter, observed that the pregnant cow appeared larger than usual, speculating that she might be carrying twins.

“Earlier this year, a set of twins was born, but unfortunately, they didn’t survive due to the cold winter,” Jamie shared with Minnesota Public Radio.

Upon the cow going into labor, the family was astounded when she delivered four calves. Determined efforts were made to ensure the calves’ survival throughout the night.

Due to their smaller size compared to average calves, the newborns had to be separated from their mother as she couldn’t nurse them all simultaneously.

The likelihood of all four calves surviving the birth is an astonishing 1 in 11.2 million, a fact that Chuck found hard to believe.

“I believe it now, but just a week ago, this would have seemed impossible,” Chuck expressed to CBS Minnesota.

The couple shared the heartwarming news on Facebook, garnering tens of thousands of shares and well-wishes from fellow farmers and supporters.

“It’s a rare occurrence, and I hope someone else experiences it next time, because once is enough,” Chuck humorously remarked to CBS.
