But these dogs are not just for cuddling, these wise dogs have an essential task.
A video from the US is now being shared by many people, after a mother and her child wanted to pet a service dog. But the owner said no.
Strange dogs should not be approached, and especially not service dogs.
“Don’t forget to never disturb a dog with a service blanket or harness, he is working! If the dog loses focus, the owner’s safety may be compromised,” reads a Swedish site about service dogs.
But when this mother and her children were at a shopping center, they suddenly saw a very cute dog they wanted to cuddle with.
The dog was standing with its owner Meghan in the center, and it soon became clear that the dog was a service dog and was on duty with its vest on.
Although the dog was on duty and needed the owner’s full attention, the family didn’t care.
Was not allowed to pet dog
The mother asked if her daughter could pet the dog, and when the owner said no, the mother became angry.
She took her daughter by the arm and left the place, but that was not the last time they would meet.
Later, the family encountered the woman and the service dog again, and it turned out she was still very upset.
The mother explained to Meghan that she was rude because she didn’t let her daughter pet the dog. She also suggested that the dog should have a ‘do not pet’ sign, but if she looked closer, she would have seen four different signs on Nala’s harness.
Still, she went to a guard and told them what had happened. That she was not allowed to pet the dog.
The guard didn’t know what to say, but luckily Meghan had the support of other people nearby who took her side.
Hopefully, this mother learned something that day at the shopping center.
