Never Leave Water in the Kettle

Many of us use the kettle daily to make tea or quickly heat water. Once we’ve poured the liquid into our teacup, it’s not uncommon to leave the residue behind. But the fact is that you should always pour out the water from the kettle.
In the modern kitchen, there are many different gadgets and utensils to help streamline and simplify cooking. Everything from blenders to air fryers is widely used.
One of the most commonly used tools is, of course, the kettle. With this, we can quickly heat water for tea, coffee, or cooking. It is found in almost every Dutch household and is used in many countries around the world.
But what some people don’t realize is that leaving water in the kettle after use can have consequences.
Since it’s an appliance that only deals with water, it’s probably not uncommon to think that it doesn’t get dirty. After all, Dutch water itself is clean. But the fact is that you should always empty the kettle after use.
Pour the water always out of the kettle
If you store liquid in the device, it can cause limescale buildup and bacterial growth, which can affect both the taste and your health. The limescale can be a breeding ground for bacteria, especially if the water sits for a long time, according to Waterfilter Market. Always pouring out the water also extends the life of your kettle.
It’s also not enough to clean the kettle with water alone; Kent Health Care suggests cleaning it with a little vinegar instead.
“Unplug the appliance and let it cool down before starting the cleaning process. Fill the kettle halfway with hot water, add some vinegar, and let it sit in the kettle for 20 minutes. Remove the water and use a cloth to scrub the appliance, especially if there is limescale on the kettle. Finish by wiping the kettle clean with a soft cloth,” they write on their website.
I had no idea about this!
