Choosing the right daycare for our children is never easy. Selecting a school with the right educational environment and staff can be instinctual for many parents, requiring a lot of research.
The costs of childcare can sometimes be very high, but we all want the best for our children, even though it may feel like we are working to pay for childcare.
For a single mother in North Carolina, she thought she had found the perfect environment for her child and was happy to leave her there every day. Then one afternoon, when she went to pick up her child, she was shocked by what she saw.
When we leave our children at daycare, we expect all staff to take good care of our precious children because nothing is more important to us than our children.
But mother Jessica Hayes was furious after picking up her 17-month-old daughter from Pleasant Hill Nursery in Elkin, North Carolina and seeing that the staff had taped her daughter’s shoes to her ankles.

After carefully removing the tape from her child’s skin, she saw that the tape had been applied so tightly that it left marks and bruises.
She took to Facebook to post photos and express her frustration, receiving an overwhelming response.

Jessica’s post on Facebook:
“I am upset that this happened to my child, because someone clearly wanted to teach her that she can’t just take her shoes off. This wasn’t just sticking her shoes around her ankle,” she wrote on Facebook. “My child couldn’t indicate that they were too tight. My 17-month-old child couldn’t say anything.”
Jessica said the tape wrapped around her daughter’s ankles so tightly that it caused swelling and bruising.
“It hurts when you rely on two people, who have been caring for her since my daughter was six weeks old, to have stuck her shoes to her ankles like this.”

Jessica reported the incident to the daycare director who was ‘as speechless as I was,’ according to Cafe Mom.
The daycare responded promptly: “Pleasant Hill Daycare also took appropriate action and dismissed the two employees involved,” the article stated.
Despite the incident, Jessica said her daughter went straight back to the same daycare the next day.
I understand why Jessica was furious when she saw what the staff had done. Share this article with your friends on Facebook if you agree.
