Occasionally, we come across stories that leave us puzzled, making us wonder, “Who thought this was a good idea?!”
This particular incident occurred at a school in Brazil, where teachers instructed their students to paint on a live horse instead of using a canvas.
The event unfolded two years ago during a summer camp, with the teachers perceiving it as a harmless activity for the children. However, they did not anticipate the significant backlash and contentious discussions that ensued online.

According to La Vanguardia, the teachers encouraged the kids to paint on one of the horses.
The unfortunate animal ended up covered in layers of paint on its head and body, bewildered by what was happening to it.
“However, the incident did not go unnoticed. A group of Brazilian animal rights lawyers shared a photo of the horse on social media,” Paula Vasconcelos informed the newspaper O Globo.
“Rather than finding more appropriate educational activities, they opted to use the hapless horse as a painting canvas, all in the name of pedagogy,” Paula remarked.
“However, that does not excuse the atrocity.”
Intense Debate
The school principal, Muriell Marques, supported the teachers’ choice to have the students paint on the horse.
“The horse remained calm throughout; there was no sign of distress.”
Subsequently, there was a substantial backlash. People were appalled by the disturbing incident, with many emphasizing that ‘a horse is not a plaything’.
The gravity of their actions eludes them. It is unfathomable why someone would engage in such a nonsensical act.
We are relieved that the horse did not suffer any repercussions from this ordeal and we trust that the ensuing conversations will lead to positive outcomes.
