It’s always heartbreaking to see abandoned dogs, especially when they are puppies. The story of a chihuahua mix left in a shoebox deeply moved me and I wanted to share it.
The little dog had found refuge in a small shoebox outside a house, where she felt relatively safe. The kind homeowners noticed her presence and started providing her with food to keep her alive.
Weeks passed, and despite efforts from two different animal shelters, questions lingered. Why was this dog left alone in a shoebox? What was her story?

Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte, from a local animal rights organization, intervened. Upon lifting the dog from her box, they made a shocking discovery – the dog was missing a paw and extremely weak, barely able to move.

Hagar and Frankonyte took the dog to a vet for a thorough examination. They named her Princess. She was infested with fleas and dirt, so a bath was given to clean her up.

The vet discovered Princess had severe anemia in addition to her missing paw. She required close monitoring and attentive care, which she received.
After weeks of treatment, Princess began to show signs of recovery. Despite the challenges, she fought back and eventually regained her health!

It’s sadly not uncommon to find dogs in similar conditions to Princess. The circumstances under which she was abandoned remain unknown. However, it is clear that whoever mistreated her should never have had a pet. Luckily, there are compassionate individuals like Eldad and Loreta who dedicate themselves to caring for neglected animals. They truly deserve recognition.
