Puppy love gone wrong: Couple adopts small dog, only to realize their big mistake

Some people find it odd when others don’t like dogs. Dogs are adorable, loving creatures that provide great companionship.

However, not everyone shares the same level of affection for dogs, and that’s perfectly fine—it’s all about personal preference!

During times when a couple’s relationship feels mundane, getting a dog often sparks excitement. Usually, one partner is eager while the other may have reservations. How do you handle such a situation?

To surprise her husband Rob, who wasn’t keen on having a dog at home, Sue explored their options.

Knowing Rob’s two criteria:

1. The dog shouldn’t be costly
2. The dog shouldn’t be too large

Sue conducted research and visited multiple animal shelters.

One day, she returned home ecstatic, telling Rob she had found a small, elderly Jack Russel.

But reality would soon reveal a different story…

One of Rob’s conditions was to avoid getting a large dog, so Sue was pleased with her choice of a small dog.

Assuming the Jack Russel wouldn’t grow further in size, Sue was in for a surprise.

Days passed, and their new furry friend just kept expanding in size…

Soon enough, the shocking truth emerged.

The supposed Jack Russel turned out to be a Great Dane! Rob never anticipated hosting a gigantic canine in their home, but reality had other plans.

The petite dog transformed into a colossal beast.

Dog weighs over 90 kg

Despite the unforeseen turn of events, Rob grew deeply fond of the ever-enlarging dog. Yogi, as he was named, became an integral part of their family.

Yogi not only belongs to a large breed but is notably massive even among Great Danes, typically weighing between 70 to 90 kg.

Yet, Yogi tips the scales at over 90 kg!

Standing at an impressive 2.10 meters tall on his hind legs, he is truly a sight to behold, as reported by Daily Mail.

“I had concerns about accommodating such a large dog in our small living room,” Rob shared with Daily Mail.

“I mean, how much trouble could a Jack Russell cause? But by the time he was five months old, he outgrew every other Jack Russell, and his tongue hung from his mouth like a baseball bat.”

Breakfast for the dog: scrambled eggs and sausage

Yogi is practically the size of a small horse, needing a horse jacket during colder weather.

As for his diet, Yogi leads a pampered life.

The family invests around 180 euros monthly on his meals, including a breakfast of four servings of scrambled eggs and sausage. Yogi even has his own designated spot from where he watches TV.

“Our ‘bear’ has truly settled into our family. He acts like a human, claiming his own seat to watch TV with us. He’s quite protective and won’t allow strangers to sit in his spot,” expressed the family.

The sole exception granted to sit in Yogi’s spot is Toffee, the elderly neighbor’s cat, with whom he shares a special bond.

Yogi is undeniably an extraordinary canine companion! Share this heartwarming story with your fellow animal enthusiasts on Facebook!
