When a group of police officers was called to an address in Atlanta, USA, they had no idea they would enter a pure nightmare.
They knew there was a mother and child living at the address, but they could not have guessed that behind those four walls, it had been a hell.
The police had received an anonymous tip that there was a stench coming from the apartment where the mother and her 7-year-old daughter lived.
The person who had called may have thought the smell had a natural cause and that something might be rotting.
The police were ready to storm the apartment
But the truth was heartbreaking to say the least.

The anonymous caller thought that the mother and daughter still lived there, but when the police arrived, there was no doubt.
The smell coming from the apartment was from something inside that had been there for a very long time, a very long time.
The police were prepared for the apartment door to be locked and were ready to forcefully enter.
Surprisingly, no one had bothered to lock the door.
The police found a “mummy” in the apartment
The police were able to enter and followed the smell that became very noticeable when the door was opened.
There was no doubt that something inside was rotting.
The police opened a closet door and in the closet was the 7-year-old girl who had lived there with her mother.
She had been dead for a long time, and the site reports that the girl looked like a “mummy.”
The police believe that the girl was left alone somewhere between February 28 and June 25, 2023.
After investigation and intensive searches, the police found the mother of the girl, who is now charged with murder, the site writes.
It quickly became clear that the mother in question had willingly left her daughter in the apartment.
The mother had never intended to remove her from there, but had left the apartment and the daughter to die alone in the closet.
The whole family is completely shattered.
Family raising money for the funeral
The girl’s aunt says she is in shock after learning what her sister did.
“I just didn’t see it in her. We all have issues, but I didn’t think she would do something like this to her child,” she said according to Fox 5.
The family has started a fundraiser to hopefully raise enough money to give the girl a dignified funeral.
“I have no words. I am so sorry she took you away from us,” the girl’s grandmother wrote on the page. “You had a beautiful future ahead of you. We will do everything we can to bring you justice. We will never forget you,” she wrote.
So crushingly sad and tragic. A life extinguished far too soon. Rest in peace little angel!
