The staff of an animal shelter in the Serbian village of Mladenovac received a call from a farmer who had spotted a stray dog in an abandoned building.
The dog was found in a run-down building surrounded by thickets and was in a very poor condition.
However, it wasn’t until the rescuers arrived that they understood the gravity of the situation.

Toen ze het gebouw benaderden, dat op instorten stond, zagen ze een kleine, zwarte hond. Haar oogjes spraken boekdelen.
Maar dit kleine, kwetsbare hondje was niet alleen.
Toen de redders van het Servische asiel dichterbij kwamen zagen ze dat het hondje ook nog eens vijf puppy’s had.
Het hondje was kalm en content terwijl ze haar vier kleine pups aan het voeden was. Ze leek erg opgelucht dat er eindelijk iemand was die haar hielp.

Moreover, the rescuers observed that the dog was suffering from a severe case of Demodex, caused by a mite infestation that can lead to hair loss and painful sores.
The shelter responsible for saving this mother and her puppies provides food and shelter for over 350 animals.
