Sandy Surprise: Couple’s Romantic Beach Stroll in the Caribbean Takes Unexpected Turn

Not a made-up story

Sounds like a made-up story, but no, this was real. The photos below prove it.

Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of their misery.

Katie posted a message on Facebook to warn others. She added some creepy photos. Not for the faint of heart, so.

Cutaneous larva migrans (CLM) is a skin disease caused by hookworm parasites.

“I have dozens of worms in my feet, just like Katie,” Eddie told Windsor Star.

“It’s so disgusting when you think about it.” He says that extreme itching is “unbearable.”

The itching is caused by an infection of the worm, which also causes redness and blisters, as the worm moves inside the feet.

Hookworms live in tropical and subtropical environments, and in the southern United States.

But due to international travel, they are found in more and more places.

Next time you want to take a beach walk, pay close attention.

The worms are usually found on warm, moist beaches where they enter the bodies of their prey.

Larva migrans usually do not survive long in a human body, and usually die after a few days.

But this nightmare lasted forever for Eddie and Katie.

If you don’t get treated for it, like Eddie and Katie, your feet can develop severe blisters, wounds, and swelling. This is because the worm has already embedded deep into your feet.

And even when you get a diagnosis, treatment is not easy.

“As if that wasn’t enough, the health insurance in Canada refused our application for medication needed to treat us against this infection,” Katie said. “This forces us to go to the United States.”

Eddie’s mother had to drive all the way to the United States to obtain the medication they needed. “Thanks Canada, for your great health insurance!”

Daniel Caplivski, an infectious disease physician at Mount Sinai Hospital, told Cosmopolitan that people should always wear beach shoes when walking on the beach.

So be extra careful when walking on the beach, where wild dogs and animals also roam. It’s better to lay a towel on the beach because the whole body is susceptible to these worms.

“If you come back from the beach and feel itchy, go see a doctor immediately,” wrote Katie.

“At first we thought it was just mites, but it got worse every day.”

Feeling the warm sand between your toes is delightful, but the parasites are less pleasant.
The photos are quite shocking, but Katie shared them on Facebook to warn others about parasites and infections while traveling.
I hope her warning will help others detect symptoms early so that no one has to go through the same thing.
Be sure to share this post on Facebook to spread the warning!
