Science often confirms things we all know to be true, but sometimes it gives us a new fact that can be astonishing. Recently, some scientific studies have shown that a 43-year-old model may have the ‘perfect body’.
The Evolution of Beauty Standards:
For a long time, we were led to believe that the perfect figure for a woman is a very thin, model-like appearance. But get ready to forever change this perception.
Beauty standards are always evolving. While at one point, Marilyn Monroe’s curvy figure was considered the epitome of beauty, it later became Kate Moss’s incredibly thin figure. For a long time, women with the perfect hourglass shape and measurements were considered beautiful.
But now, this belief is being challenged by a study at the University of Texas. The study found that the ideal female body is ‘fuller’ with more curves. The study revealed that the perfect BMI is 18.85 with a bust of 93 cm, a waist of 61 cm, and hips of 87 cm. The study also found that the hip-to-waist ratio is very important and should be about 0.65-0.75.
A British model named Kelly Brook fits perfectly into all these measurements. While society, after looking at her, may consider her shape ‘chubby’ according to current beauty standards, she has the shape that is most desirable for men according to science.
But when it comes down to it, beauty is subjective. Not everyone has the same taste, and it varies from person to person and what their idea of beauty is.
Although this scientific study may show us what the perfect body is according to science, it doesn’t mean that everything else is unacceptable or considered ugly. The study simply shows us that what we consider beautiful, a skinny woman, is not what science considers the only way to be beautiful. In this time when the emphasis is on diversity in beauty, it is important to acknowledge that this study shows us exactly that, that there is diversity in what we find beautiful.
