Protecting our children is every parent’s top priority from the moment they are born.
Most parents instinctively do everything possible to keep their children safe from harm. However, despite our best efforts, unexpected events can occur.
Jackie Fedro learned this lesson the hard way. Her daughter’s unfortunate incident happened in 2016, but the story is still relevant today.
According to BuzzFeed, Jackie decided it was time for her 13-year-old daughter Gabbie to have her first cell phone in 2016. Gabbie received an LG d500 as a Christmas gift.
“We got her a cell phone so we could keep in touch with her due to her busy schedule,” Jackie shared with BuzzFeed.

Tragically, a nightmare unfolded when Gabbie suffered burns while using her phone one day. She was in her room when she suddenly screamed in pain, causing her mother Jackie to rush to her side.
She grabbed, screaming at her neck
Jackie recalled, “She ran downstairs, grabbing her neck and screaming in agony.”
“It’s indescribable to see your child in pain and feel helpless. It took Gabbie five minutes to explain what had happened,” she added.
Gabbie had been using her phone while it was charging when she received an electric shock. The current traveled through the charging cable, the phone, and into her metal necklace, causing burns on her neck.
Jackie informed BuzzFeed: “She sustained severe second-degree burns and is likely to have a scar on her neck.”
In light of this incident, Jackie emphasized the importance of parents being aware of the potential dangers associated with cell phones, risks that are not widely discussed or known.
“With so many children using phones nowadays, parents need to understand the risks they pose,” Jackie cautioned.
How frightening! Had you ever heard of such a thing happening before? I certainly hadn’t.
