There is no better and more faithful friend than a dog. They are always there for you, no matter what. But unfortunately, there are still people who clearly have no respect for dogs and treat them as if they were toys.
The 8-year-old dog Larry was abandoned by his family when they moved elsewhere. He had nowhere to go and knew no one. Larry decided to seek shelter in the bushes near a parking lot not far from his previous home.
Day after day, for months, he lay there while his family lived elsewhere. Fortunately, he got occasional food from kind passersby.
A woman driving her car noticed the dog and wondered every day why he was always lying there all alone. The poor dog had no family left. No one.
The woman decided to start a search on social media and eventually came across Sasha Abelson, director at Love Leo Rescue, an animal rights organization.
βAs soon as we saw what had happened, we decided to arrange everything,β she told The Dodo.
The volunteers then discovered that the dog’s stomach was very swollen, even though he had not eaten or drunk anything. Larry also had some serious injuries in his fur and could not walk. The dog was in a bad condition.
The veterinarians discovered that he was suffering from Cushing’s disease, which causes him to produce an excessive amount of stress hormone.
Larry looked sad, but he remained positive and wagged his tail when he was finally taken in by real animal lovers.
The eight-year-old labrador had to be examined monthly by the veterinarian.
βHe was sad and depressed. And he didn’t want to see other dogs,β Sasha said.
But as time passed, Larry’s health improved. He still had mental wounds from what had happened.
βHe doesn’t want to be alone, and that’s understandable when you’ve been abandoned,β she told The Dodo.
Now the shelter is looking for a suitable candidate to adopt Larry. Someone who can give him love and warmth. We hope that Larry will find a home where he is loved and cared for!
It’s inconceivable what this dog must have gone through. But I’m glad he finally found a home before it was too late!
