Shocking: Mother panics as son is born with bloody patches, doctor reveals surprising reason
When Dylan was born with a shocking condition…
When Dylan was born five years ago, his doctor quickly realized that something was wrong with the newborn. The skin on his back was dark red and the rest of his body was covered in large dark birthmarks.
It turned out that Dylan was suffering from a serious condition called acquired melanocytic nevi. About 80 percent of his body was covered in birthmarks.
The doctors explained to Dylan’s mother, Kara, that her son would need to undergo several surgeries in the first years of his life.
We want to warn our readers that there are photos below that may be considered shocking.

Patients with acquired melanocytic nevi have a high risk of skin cancer. That is why it is extra important for them to monitor their birthmarks carefully.

The huge birthmark that covered almost the entire back of Dylan was so large that the doctors wanted to remove it through a surgical procedure. But it wouldn’t be an easy operation as skin had to be transplanted from other parts of the baby’s body.

As Dylan got older, his doctor decided to proceed with more complex surgeries. In order to have enough skin for transplants, implants similar to breast implants were used in the boy’s body.
Dylan wore the implants for three months and his skin grew more during that period. The idea was that there would be enough extra skin to replace the giant birthmark on the boy’s back if it was removed.
Remaining hopeful despite numerous surgeries…
The number of surgeries that Dylan has had so far is not small. After 26 surgeries, half of the boy’s huge birthmark has been removed.
“We hold on to hope that the birthmarks will never return or prove to be cancerous, but of course, that can always happen,” mother Kara told the Telegraph. “He has surgeries every three to six months, depending on where they operate.”

“We do what we can for him, we want to give him the most complete, happy life,” Kara told the Telegraph. “Dylan continues to amaze me, he always smiles and it seems like the hospital belongs to him, all the nurses know him and love him.”

Dylan knows that he looks different from other children. Strangers often stare at him when he is outside. Usually, Dylan explains to them why he looks like that.
Most of the time, people are just curious and react positively. But sometimes there are mean people.
“Once in a supermarket, the manager asked us to leave because one of their customers was upset to see our child, it went too far,” Kara said.
But the mother refused to be ashamed or hide her boy.
“I’m not ashamed to take him out, and I don’t want him to worry or feel embarrassed,” she said.
Dylan’s parents have created a Facebook page for people who want to follow his recovery. Click on this link for more information.
Dylan is a brave and incredibly sweet boy despite his birthmarks. We hope all his surgeries go well.
