The sisters Tammy and Amy Slaton have inspired countless people with their incredible strength and determination.
In 2020, they both appeared on TLC’s program “1000 lbs sisters.” Together, they weighed 453 kilograms, almost half a ton.
The program was also aired in Sweden and showed the incredible fighting spirit of both of them.
They fought for their lives, as doctors stated that something needed to change quickly in order to survive.
And soon it became evident that their participation in the program was one of the best choices they had made.
Bariatric surgery for Amy
TV viewers followed their adventure closely. With a new diet and exercise, changes began to happen slowly.
Soon, Amy had managed to lose enough weight to undergo a gastric bypass operation. This involves disconnecting a large part of the stomach and a portion of the small intestine.
It proved to be an incredible tool for Amy, who managed to lose enough weight and embrace her new life.
Tammy had a tougher time
For Tammy, it was more challenging, as her weight loss proved to be a greater struggle.
The family decided to send her to a support center where she was monitored around the clock. This would have been difficult for anyone else, but in Tammy’s case, it was deemed necessary.
“I don’t want to disappoint myself and my family,” she told the program.
By the time she was back home, the situation had changed, and thankfully, Tammy was able to lose weight with a little help.
Tammy’s great joyful news
Today marks 3 years since the sisters participated in the program, and a lot has happened since then.
They no longer need as much healthcare assistance.
And when Tammy recently found out that she would undergo the same surgery as her sister, she was overjoyed, according to the Mirror.
“After her previous failures, I really thought she couldn’t do it. But she proved me wrong,” Amy says on the show about her sister.
Amy Slaton is divorced
For Amy, a lot has also happened on a personal level, and some time ago she went through a divorce, reports the Mirror.
In 2019, Amy married Michael Halterman, whom she met in high school.
But now they have separated, and on TikTok, she recently shared a picture of herself getting ready for a night out.
