Stylist Discovers Life-Threatening Condition in Client’s Skull

While her hairstylist was attending to her, she discovered something that likely saved her life.

This story proves the importance of paying attention to health advice from others!

For many years, Eileen worked as a health correspondent for WKYC, a television station in Cleveland, Ohio.

But even health experts can fall ill. And for Eileen, things could have taken a turn for the worse if her stylist hadn’t noticed something quickly.

Eileen has been a client of stylist Kari Phillips for 15 years.

“This doesn’t look good”

Over the years, the two women developed a friendship, so when Kari noticed something strange during her client’s visit, she didn’t hesitate to tell her.

She observed a large spot on Eileen’s scalp that hadn’t been there the month before.

“We can pretty much see the whole skull,” Kari told WKYC 3. “It doesn’t look right, and I haven’t seen it before. And I definitely want you to have your dermatologist look at this,” she told Eileen.

Advice that saved her life

Eileen listened to her stylist’s advice and visited a specialist. And it’s a good thing she did. The doctor immediately performed a biopsy that revealed Eileen had a melanoma, a form of skin cancer.

“I wouldn’t have seen this otherwise. I wouldn’t have felt it either, because it wasn’t raised. You couldn’t see anything,” she told WKYC 3.

Thanks to her stylist, the melanoma was discovered and fortunately, it was only at the skin level, so it could be removed without further treatment.

Eileen says she will forever be grateful for her stylist’s keen eye and that she will now always protect herself from the sun. A tip we should all follow!
