Last summer, an 18-year-old American woman tragically drowned in a lake while rescuing children from a dangerous situation in the water, according to reports.
The woman, identified as Raina Lynn Neeland by the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, heroically intervened when a group of children got into trouble near a dam where the water level had risen significantly due to recent heavy rainfall.

According to her family, Raina saved three of her siblings and five cousins, with three young nephews aged 10, 8, and 6 caught in the swift currents.
Raina’s aunt, Victoria Wind, recounted: “The water current was deceptively strong, appearing calm on the surface. The children underestimated the danger and found themselves struggling in the water.”
Raina’s grandmother, Lenny Neeland, described how Raina selflessly sprang into action to rescue the imperiled children, ultimately sacrificing her own life in the process.
Despite the valiant efforts of bystanders and emergency responders, Raina could not be revived after being pulled from the water.
Her family expressed gratitude for Raina’s heroic act and the lives she saved, acknowledging the irreplaceable loss they now endure.
Let’s honor Raina’s bravery and compassion by sharing her story to raise awareness and spread love and support where it’s needed.
