Kelly O’Connell, a young veterinarian, crossed paths with Charlie, a black Labrador mix, at the age of 19. Charlie had been abandoned in the cold of winter, discovered in a shopping cart. Despite not intending to adopt a dog at the time, Kelly felt an instant connection.
“I don’t know what it was. I was like, ‘Yes, this is my dog. I’m taking him home,'” she shared with Denver Channel.
