A farmer in Australia was amazed when he found a giant egg among his chickens’ daily production.
The egg, laid by a free-range chicken at Stockman’s Eggs in Queensland, was three times larger than normal and weighed 175 grams.
Scott Stockman, the farm owner, shared a photo of the unusual egg next to a regular-sized one.
Upon cracking open the giant egg, they discovered another perfectly formed egg inside.
Scott mentioned to ABC News Australia how remarkable it was to find two eggs inside each other.
Experts were astounded by this rare occurrence, with Associate Professor Raf Freire from Charles Sturt University mentioning he had never seen anything like it.
He explained that the chicken likely intended to lay an egg but ended up releasing a new egg cell instead. The chicken then formed its shell around both the new egg cell and the egg from the previous day.
Although the egg was safe to eat, Scott revealed that with their daily production of 50,000 eggs, they opted not to consume it.
