Woman finds ‘mold stain’ in the pantry. Within seconds, she sees two eyes begging for help.
Recently, a woman in Tasmania was cleaning out her pantry.
But suddenly, something strange caught her attention. On one wall of the closet, she saw a dark, blurry stain.

“She saw a piece of ‘mold’ in the far corner, which made her wonder, ‘What leaked?'” Wildlife and Community Together Tasmania writes in a Facebook post.
The woman, who didn’t understand what it was, grabbed a cloth and tried to wipe away the moldy spot.
Started Moving
But then the mold suddenly started to move.
However, the mold stain suddenly began to move.
“She was scared to death!” writes the organization in the post.
That’s when she realized that the spot she thought was mold was actually an animal.
However, she had no idea what kind of animal it was. Could it be a mouse?
She contacted local gamekeeper Jude Lennox for advice.
The Stain Was a Living Creature
Lennox identified the visitor as an eastern pygmy possum, a small marsupial native to Tasmania and southeastern Australia. According to Lennox, these animals are very shy and elusive. It was surprising that the small creature had wandered into the woman’s house at all.

It was in some kind of hibernation.
Lennox took the creature home where it could safely hibernate in a quiet room surrounded by bins of native flowers and very finely cut grapes.

Lennox hopes that this story will encourage others to treat wildlife with compassion and respect.
“Just like all our amazing wildlife, it is our responsibility to protect and appreciate these and all other species,” Lennox told The Dodo, adding:
“We need to end the general indifference toward our wildlife and their welfare.”
