Chandler Plante, a 23-year-old, has been grappling with various health issues since 2021. Prior to this, she considered herself a “normal 21-year-old” until her health complications arose.
After contracting COVID-19 in December 2020 and recovering within a week from a mild case, she started experiencing numbness in her hands and forearms three months post-recovery.
Upon visiting the emergency room, she was dismissed and told that her symptoms likely stemmed from “anxiety.” She recalled: “I was told to leave, so I left.”

It was not until a brain scan on June 28 revealed that her presumed panic attacks were actually significant ischemic strokes. She had severe inflammation in her head, constricting her arteries to an alarming extent.
An ischemic stroke occurs when a blood clot obstructs blood and oxygen flow to the brain, which can prove fatal. Following this discovery, she underwent a procedure involving the placement of coronary stents to widen her brain arteries and prevent further strokes.
Further surgeries and treatments followed in October 2021, including the insertion of a second set of stents, brain surgery, steroid treatment, and radiation therapy in November. Despite the invasive treatments, her health continued to deteriorate.
In November 2021, complications with her stents led to blindness in one eye as they interfered with her optic nerve. Despite extensive tests, medical professionals were unable to identify a definitive cause for her ailments.
Describing her journey, she mentioned undergoing several procedures, including a lumbar puncture and brain surgery, alongside various medications and treatments to pinpoint the root of her health struggles.

Despite the numerous challenges she faced, a turning point came in April 2023 with her first dose of rituximab, a chemical drug. This marked an improvement in her condition, with reduced side effects and a sense of normalcy returning to her life.
Through her TikTok account, she now shares her journey of healing and positivity, aiming to inspire others with her resilience and optimism.

Despite the absence of a definitive diagnosis for her ongoing health challenges, Chandler Plante remains a beacon of positivity, advocating for self-advocacy and perseverance in the face of adversity.
Her journey serves as a reminder of the importance of advocating for oneself in challenging situations. Share her story to inspire others!
