The Uproar: Elderly Woman Faces Racism on Flight, Staff Takes Action

Sometimes I really need to take a moment to take a deep breath, close my eyes, and think about the direction we are heading in our world. It’s like we are making incredible strides in many areas, but then taking gigantic steps backward in others.

What I will never understand is that some people feel superior to others based on appearance, race, or financial status. What’s even worse are those who believe they have the right to insult others for those reasons. These heartless souls make me extremely angry.

A specific example of such deplorable behavior recently went viral on Facebook when a 77-year-old Jamaican woman was verbally attacked with racist remarks during a Ryanair flight. And as if that humiliation was not enough, the staff chose to move her instead of the racist culprit.

According to reports, the incident took place during Ryanair flight FR015 from Barcelona to London. As passengers were finding their seats, a man became impatient when a 77-year-old woman was not moving quickly enough. According to the woman’s daughter, her mother suffers from arthritis.

However, what caused a stir was the way the Ryanair staff handled the situation. When asked to intervene, they chose to move the 77-year-old lady, not the racist who continued hurling terrible words at her. The brute got exactly what he wanted.

Meanwhile, passengers defended the rights of the lady, engaging in discussions with the staff and the man in question.

In the aftermath of the incident, and with the video circulating worldwide, Ryanair released a statement on Twitter explaining that the matter is now with the police. They refuse any further comment.

The fact that Ryanair has not even offered an apology is absolutely shocking to me.
