Can you imagine getting stuck in a freezing river in winter? It’s something no one would want to experience because it could end very badly.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened last Wednesday when a few construction workers in Estonia were working on a dam.

The men didn’t hesitate for a second when they saw a small “dog” fighting for its life in the icy river water.

Rando, Robin, and Erki immediately reacted when they saw the poor “dog” in the icy river. But it wasn’t a dog, it was a wolf. That’s what the Estonian source Postimees reported.

They made their way through the ice to rescue the poor animal. Together they dragged the wild beast onto land and covered it with towels. Then they took it to the vet.

The men questioned the animal when they lifted it. It was surprisingly heavy.

Severely Hypothermic

It wasn’t until they arrived at the vet that their suspicions were confirmed. They hadn’t saved a dog, but a wolf.

“He was calm and sleeping on my legs. When I tried to stretch my legs, he lifted his head for a moment,” Rando told Postimees.

The men had rescued a wolf pup. It was one year old. The animal suffered from severe hypothermia and after treatment, it was placed in a cage.

The wolf fully recovered and was released back into the wild.

“The Ministry of Animal Welfare wants to track the wolf with a transmitter, after which he will be released back into the wild,” according to Postimees.

The compassion these men showed for this animal is admirable. Good deeds beget good outcomes.

What a story, right! How wonderful that the wolf recovered.

The rescue of this young wolf was remarkable. Not only because it was a wild animal, but because everyone tried to help the animal despite it being a wild wolf.

Praise these animal heroes who saved the life of this poor wolf!
