Nine children lost their lives in an accident involving multiple vehicles. This happened in Butler County, Alabama.
According to tragic sources, the accident occurred last Sunday. There were eight children aged between 4 and 17, all of whom were orphaned children living in a home.
Also a 29-year-old father and his 9-month-old daughter who were in another vehicle, lost their lives.
The accident occurred when the area was hit by severe storms sweeping through the state of Alabama.
An eyewitness said the weather was very bad, an hour before the accident. Lacey Willis, a journalist from CNN, was also involved in the accident and said her vehicle collided with the guardrail.
It was then that her husband, who was behind the wheel, said they needed to get their daughter out of the vehicle.
Lacey told CNN they were walking away from their car when she saw other vehicles catching fire.
“I am barefoot, on the side of the highway, and am far down the road,” she said. “I was praying.”
She further testified that she was “very grateful” that her family could “escape” from the accident but admits to feeling guilty as well. “The families of those people have been forever changed, and I hope they will find a way to feel better.”
“Because this was so tragic for many people. We are very, very fortunate.”
The bus driver was rescued from the burning vehicle, but the girls could not be rescued in time.
Michael Smith, head of the youth organization, said the driver also lost two of his own children.
“Her life was saved, and for that we are grateful,” said Smith. “Unfortunately, we lost eight people.”
“We have lost eight young people who could have made a difference in our world. We lost eight young people who did not have the chance to have their own children. We lost eight young people who could not guide the lives of their future children.”
“What a sad day.”

A sad day indeed. Let us honor the families of the victims of this tragic accident.
