Many were shocked by the tragic events that unfolded in Dordrecht on September 9th when a police officer shot his wife and daughters, aged 8 and 12, before taking his own life.
Today, the Public Prosecution Service shared further details.

According to the statement from the Public Prosecution Service, investigations revealed that the police officer acted alone. After his shift, he went back to the police station to get his service weapon.

Eldest daughter contacted
Upon his return home, he phoned his eldest daughter, requesting her presence. His wife and younger daughter were already at home. Once the family was assembled, he tragically shot them before taking his own life.
The Public Prosecution Service also stated that there were significant marital issues with his wife that likely motivated his actions. A divorce was impending, and other scenarios are deemed highly improbable and are no longer under consideration.
Families of the victims have been notified of these findings.
