It’s always devastating to hear about a missing child found deceased. The news of a young child’s passing is truly heart-wrenching.
Lucian Munguia, a cherished 5-year-old, was adored by his family and friends. On September 10, 2022, he was at Sarg Hubbard Park in Yakima, Washington, accompanied by his father and younger siblings.

This was the last place where he was seen alive. Despite immediate efforts from family, friends, and the community to locate Lucian, their search yielded no results.
On December 29, 2022, reports of human remains in the Yakima River reached authorities. The recovered remains were sent for autopsy and identification.

On December 30, dental records were compared by authorities, confirming the body as that of five-year-old Lucian Munguia. According to a statement from the Yakima Police Department, further DNA tests will be carried out to definitively verify the identity of the found remains.
Based on the initial autopsy, law enforcement mentioned that “there are no signs of foul play.”
A Facebook group dedicated to locating young Lucian revealed that he was a non-verbal autistic child who adored marine creatures.
Shortly before the discovery of his body, Lucian’s mother shared in the same Facebook group. On Christmas day, she expressed her deep yearning for her son, stating, “Christmas lacks its joy without you.”
A vigil for Lucian will take place on January 7, followed by a celebration of his life on January 14.
