Cities around the world are experiencing unprecedented heatwaves this summer. In New Albany, Ohio, it was 30 degrees Celsius on Friday.
One stressed-out mother went to work one day with her two children in the car. She was supposed to drop her daughter off at daycare first, and then take her three-month-old son to another childcare facility.
However, something went terribly wrong. After dropping off her daughter at daycare, the mother went straight to work – forgetting her son who was peacefully sleeping in the backseat.
When she returned to the car around four-thirty in the afternoon and opened the car door, she smelled something strange. Initially confused, she was filled with unspeakable dread when she suddenly realized her fatal mistake.
She had forgotten to drop off her son and he had tragically died in the scorching hot car all day.
Paramedics arrived quickly, but it was too late.
The boy’s father, Aaron Turner, later confirmed that the deceased baby was his son.
“She said she opened the car door and said: ‘What’s that smell?’ And she realized Aiden was still in the back seat,” Aaron told WAVE3.
Aiden was pronounced dead at Baptist Floys Hospital.

“I still don’t understand how this happened. It just happened in my family. It doesn’t get any closer to home than this,” the devastated father told WLKY.
No Charges
No charges are expected against the mother as there is no suspicion of crime. She is already punished for life.
Every time we hear a story about a child being left alone or forgotten in a car, we find it unbelievable. Yet it happens multiple times each year.
According to KidsAndCars.org, an average of 37 children die each year in the United States after being left in hot cars. In 2017, 43 children died in the United States, and so far this year, 29 deaths have occurred.
We must not let this happen more!
