The Disappearance of the 3-Year-Old Son
Steven Wright shared with Leeds Live that he took his son and daughter to the pool for a swim.
While his daughter had a swimming lesson, Steven planned to spend time with his son.
Carrying his son’s life jacket as usual, Steven suddenly heard commotion at the pool.
An employee mentioned a canceled class due to an instructor’s illness.
Amid the confusion, Steven, assuming Rocco was close by, decided to move to another area with many people around.
When he turned back after waiting for his daughter, Rocco was nowhere in sight.
He had vanished amidst the chaotic surroundings.
“Initially, I wasn’t worried. He was afraid of water, so I never imagined he would be in the pool,” expressed the father.
Steven searched the pool area, the hallway to the changing rooms, the spa, and the baby pool.
Discovery of a Lifeless Rocco in the Water
Afraid of water, young Rocco never ventured into the pool without a parent present, and Steven believed he was nearby.
However, looking towards the main pool, Steven saw Rocco lifeless in the water.
His son’s head was submerged in the water.

“As I glanced at the main pool, I spotted him,” Steven shared.
“All I could see was a silhouette at the pool’s bottom, which I later realized was Rocco.”
“He was at the pool’s bottom, approximately two to three meters deep.”
“I dove in, brought him up, laid him on his side, and called for help. After that, the memories are hazy. I recollect bits and pieces, but not the exact sequence,” he recounted.
Since then, Steven’s family has been navigating through a legal process.
Notification to the Pool Post Tragic Incident
On the day Rocco tragically passed away, only one teenage lifeguard was on duty at the pool.
The young lifeguard was unaware of Rocco venturing alone into the main pool and encountering danger.
According to the Mirror’s report, the lifeguard had no knowledge of the 3-year-old’s distress in the water.
Over five years later, the pool management company faces legal action over the incident.
The parents express dismay over having only one lifeguard on duty that day.
Their hope is that such tragedies never recur.

The club has pleaded guilty, as per the Mirror’s report.
